Ufotable chose to adapt Demon Slayer because of Nasu Kinoko
Ufotable was already a very big studio at that time, with their famous Fate series, and garnished a lot of fans by showing their animations, cinematography, and other things. After the Fate Grand Order, Ufotable chose to adapt Demon Slayer because Nasu Kinoko encouraged this project.
In one interview, he was asked what was his favourite manga or anime and he replied with Kimitsu no Yaiba. His encouragement gave a positive outcome for Ufotable to take on this project.
Why Nasu Kinoko liked Demon Slayer?
He explained that the series dosen’t deal falsely with the concept of death, but rather it presents it realistically. Some authors take a darker, funnier, or more mundane view of life and death.
For him, Kimetsu dosen’t treat death as entertainment. Dismemberment kills, and the loss of loved ones kills the soul.

The Popularity of Manga
At that time, the popularity of manga was insane and the demands to turn it into an anime adaptation. Famous manga that were successful during their time of publication and had a huge impact on readers.
Demon Slayer was hugely successful and evidence was clear even before the anime began. Manga sales were the biggest part of turning this project into an anime.
Director Yuma Takahashi Requets!
Director Yuma Takahashi was a huge fan of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He quickly decided to turn this manga series into an adaptation. He approached Shueisha to adapt this series and decided to choose Ufotable Studio for the production.
The compatibility with the studio’s style and capabilities. Takahashi felt Ufotable might be a great choice because of the fight scenes and many other reasons. He has also worked for them for the past 10 years.

Ufotable Demands?
They opted to air it late at night so as not to obfuscate the crucial image of blood. Studio Ufotable requested to show the first episode of the anime without any commercials.
For all 26 episodes of the anime, they chose to keep the opening theme tune the same since they wanted it to fit in with the show.
According to Takahashi, one of the things that made the work unique and popular with fans was the fact that Gotouge-sensei was involved in evaluating the scenarios and creating the characters and settings to make sure the anime was suitable for the manga.
