Recap of Chapter 499
The previous chapter starts with Vin Jin who was not able to accept the situation. He even beat Seongji a little before checking Sujin’s body. That’s when he realized that she was dead.
He picked her up and ran in order somehow to save her somehow. Meanwhile, Seongji thought that because of PTSD, he had killed Sujin. He started to cry and bang his head on the floor.
On the other hand, Taejin was thinking about how the situation has been unfolded. When the first-generation king of Seol was telling about Seongji’s condition to his students, Taejin listened to that conversation while he was hiding. He took advantage of this and framed Seongji.

Meanwhile, we saw Seongji heading towards the sea. He remembered his past with Mujin. He should have died back then.
Fans also learned that the red paper that Choi wanted was in the possession of Mujin in the first place. The whole backstory was very depressing. Next, Seongji finally decides to commit suicide in the sea.
The next day the funerals were held for Sujin and Seongji. Vin Jin realized that because of him they died. This is on himself. At the end of the chapter, we see Goo arriving at Taejin’s place.
Thoughts
I would say this was really one of the best arcs in the series. We got to see James Lee in action along with all the first-generation Kings. Seongji Yuk is the MVP of this arc without a doubt.
He fought James Lee toe to toe and he would have even defeated him if he was in good condition. His backstory and death were well-written by the author. Some fans think that he might be still alive due to some clues. You might find more fan theories on the Lookism Reddit community.
