Orion and the Dark, a Comedy Animated Movie on Netflix

Netflix is all set to release an upcoming American comedy animated movie named, ‘Orion and the Dark’. Sean Charmatz has directed this fantasised and adventurous comedy movie. This movie is going to be a directorial debut for Sean and he has high hopes for it. The movie is based on a book named Orion and the dark which is written by Emma Yarlett. The movie is produced by Peter McCown and narrated by Werner Herzog. Netflix is the official distribution partner of the movie and therefore the movie will only be available on Netflix officially. Orion and the Dark Netflix Release Date  

The makers of the movie released the official trailer on Netflix’s official Youtube channel. The trailer was released on 9th of November 2023 and within the time span of 2 months, more than 400 thousand people have watched it. The movie is a much anticipated one and has high hopes, also because of the book it is based upon.

Orion and the Dark Netflix release date is 2nd of February 2024.

Plot of the Movie 

This is Netflix’s brief introduction about the movie: A boy with an active imagination faces his fears on an unforgettable journey through the night with his new friend, ‘a giant smiling creature named Dark’.

The protagonist ‘Orion’ in Orion and the Dark looks like an every teenage boy, who is not amusing, who is a little shy, who has a secret crush. This is all inside him and outside in the world he is afraid of dogs, he has an irrational fear of bees, the ocean and more. But above all, he is afraid of the night, where he encounters Dark. 

Production and Animation

Netflix in association with Dreamworks Animation announced the movie on 12 of June 2023. The voice cast for the movie was also announced the same day including Jacob Tremblay, Paul Walter and others. Mikros Animation provided the animation of the film. Earlier Mikros Animation collaborated with Dreamworks Animation to animate a movie named Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.
