Andre Braugher, Hollywood Loses a fine Actor at 61

After a brief illness, as explained by publicist Andre Braugher died at the age of 61. Captain Raymond Holt aka Andre from Brooklyn Nine-Nine said goodbye to Hollywood and the World on 13th December 2023. Jennifer Allen, Andre’s publicist confirmed the news to the public on 13th December, that is Wednesday. However, Andre left the world on 12th December, that is Tuesday. 

Andre Braugher Early Life

Born on 1st July 1962, Andre is the youngest of the 4 children in the family. Andre’s mother Sally was a postal worker, whereas his father Floyd Braugher was a heavy machine operator. He was born in Chicago and was raised in Austin Neighbourhood, which is west of Chicago. Andre went to St. Ignatius College Prep, where he earned a scholarship which took him to Stanford University. At Stanford University, Andre graduated with a BA in theatre in1984. He also went to Juilliard School, where he graduated in the Drama Division in 1988.

Andre’s Career in Hollywood

In the year 1989, Andre Braugher got his first role in the film ‘Glory’, in which he played the role of Thomas Searles. In the Television series named, ‘Kojak’, which aired in the late 1980s, he played the role of Kojak’s sidekick. His one of the most significant works has been Homicide: Life on the street, in which he played the role of Frank Pembleton. The Television Critics Association awards for individual achievement in drama in 1997, 98 was won by Andre. In the 6th season of the series, Andre left the show, but returned during the reunion television film. He acted as a co-star in the movies City of Angels, Frequency and Poseidon. 

Andre’s Personal Life and Death

In the year 1991, Andre Braugher and Ami Brabson, who worked with Andre in Homicide, married each other. Andre and Ami had 3 sons, and the family lived in New Jersey. 

At the age of 61, Andre died on 11th of December 2023. The reason or cause for his death is said to be illness.
